Volga – the largest river, not only in the European part of Russia, it is also the longest river in Europe. Its length is more than 3,600 kilometers, stretches from Voldayskoy hill and flows into the Caspian Sea. Historically, this river was a major trade route, as it connects the North and south is part of the great trade route “Because of the Vikings-in-the Greeks.” But more on that later.

Despite the fact that the Volga – a river – it also has its islands and peninsulas. The largest and most famous of the peninsula – it Samara Bend. The territory of the Samara bend – a buffer zone.

Zhigulevskie mountains

The first thing you notice when you get here – it Zhigulevskie mountains (Zhiguli Mountains). These giants meet you as soon as you get on their territory! We are very fortunate that we were here in the beginning of October – at that time the mountains are full of all the colors of the rainbow.

These colors give the autumn trees (in Russia this season is called “Golden Autumn”, when the trees before defoliation, painted in yellow, gold, red, Crimson, purple). However, traveling in the woods alone is very dangerous – there is no wonder to get lost. In addition, the area is fairly rocky, full of steep cliffs and ravines.

(Rocks are probably better to show rotation with solar fields and frame with mount Strelna)

According to legend, it was here Stenka Razin hid their treasures 😉
