Traveling is all about experience, local food, culture and making friends. But the most significant affair is to remain fit while traveling.  Yes, we always tend to ignore that we have to stay fit as well in order to enjoy traveling.

Travelling and staying in shape don’t normally go hand in hand. We all know a vacation is the time for over-indulging, treating yourself, and then coming home feeling about 15lbs heavier! However, I personally think time out of your routine is a great opportunity to prioritize your health. With fewer pressures and commitments, why not take full advantage and get fit so you go home feeling refreshed and revitalized Or, at the very least, don’t view travelling as a fitness regime ruiner, and learn how to keep your health in check while on the go. I’m dying to apportion some of my easy top tips on how to look after yourself and your health while you’re traveling.

  • Eat Healthy

You need lots of protein and fiber while traveling so you should know what to eat and what not.  Don’t just see the buffet breakfast and eat whatever you want. Even if you are a backpacker you should know what to eat and what not. Don’t skip the breakfast anytime. Because if you tend to skip the breakfast, then you will have only two meals left and you tend to eat a lot during lunch and dinner. So when I am traveling, I eat eggs and Banana at breakfast, for lunch I prefer to have something light and then for dinner I eat beans and other veggies.

  • Working out while traveling

If you are staying at a luxury hotel then please use the facility of the hotel. It’s fairly obvious that no one actually desires to spend hours on end exercising while they’re moving around the world, so my approach has always been about maximizing production while minimizing input. Full body resistant workouts focusing on major multi-joint weighted exercises (think squats, deadlifts, bench press) are my travel goes-to because they do exactly this. Even if you are staying at a Hostel, still you can do some freehand exercises which include crunches, pushups, stretching, clamp and Burpee.

  • Stay active while traveling if working out is not your cup of tea

If you don’t prefer to work out, still you can stay fit and active. There are different alternatives to exercise. Swimming is the best full body workout. Go for a walk to explore the city instead of taking local transport. Take the staircase instead of Elevator. Hiking is also one of the best workouts. Engage yourself in any sport you like. These things help to boost your energy levels and keep you in shape.

  • Stay hydrated all the day

Water is your best friend when you are traveling. Not merely does this help to control appetite and prevent overeating because often dehydration is mistaken for hunger, but it helps reduce excessive water retention and bloating. Carry a water bottle with you and replenish it and then you cognize exactly how a great deal you’ve drunk throughout the daytime. It is recommended for every individual to have 3-4 liters of water every day. Hence water is a must.

  • Cook your own food

If you have the options, then cook your own food. You will not just spare you money but at the same time you can eat healthy because outside food has tons of calories. If you cook your own breakfast and dinner, then that is the best thing.

  • Going out for drinks

This is must do when you travel. But you should stay away from high calorie drink, but then if you had this kind of drink, then remember you have to burn it. Some days you could even choose to skip out on the alcohol all together.

  • Eat local food

I see most of the travelers tend to eat their country food whenever they travel. It’s the most common mistake that travelers do. We should know that the food varies according to season. Thus if you don’t consume the local food then you could face some serious issue while traveling. That’s the main reason people carry lots of medicines and they take lots of vaccinations before departure. I am from India, so I never eat Indian food whenever I travel. I invariably stress to consume local food because it avails me to remain healthy and alive. Likewise, if you don’t eat local food, you won’t be able to see the culture because food is the primary element of culture and that is the essence of traveling.

Finally, don’t stress yourself out! The main thing is that you enjoy yourself and make the most of your time travelling. It doesn’t really matter if you treat yourself a few too many times or don’t exercise as much as you’d planned – this trip is a once in a lifetime so have fun and then have some more fun!
