Surprised??

Yes, you can see Dubai via walking. This is most important to see the real Dubai.

Dubai is not only about Sky Scrapers, it is far beyond that. It has developed a lot on one side and on the other side it has managed to preserve the golden souks which were the integral part of it in the olden days. So let’s see from where we should start, where we should go and how much money we should spend on this walking tour.

Get down at Burjuman Mall and walk straight away to Al- Fahidi. While walking you will see many sky scrapers but gradually as you approach the Dubai Museum, you will see that there will be no sky scrapers and on both sides of the road you will see old buildings in golden colours. And if you see this then you are at the right place. You will also pass through one of the oldest souk in Dubai- Al fahidi Souk.

  • Dubai Museum

It should be your first stop on this walking tour. Its  a must visit. The entry fee is 5 AED and total time will be 2 hours. This museum is one of the best museums I have ever been to. It has showcased everything about Dubai and it will answer your every question.

  • Local House

Walk straight on the Al Fahidi St towards Fahidi Compound, you will see this Restaurant know as Local House. This is the best place to have a local delicacy. Its little on the higher side but its totally worth it.

  • Fahidi Compound

After having a sumptuous lunch, go to the Fahidi Compound. It includes Al Fahidi Historical, Sheikh Mohammed Cultural Centre, coffee museum and many more. Take a walk inside the narrow lanes of this compound and get mesmerized with the history.  It will again take your 2 hours.

  • Old Souq and Abra Ride to Deira

Walk towards the Dubai Museum and take a right turn before the Museum and walk straight. You will pass through Bur Dubai Grand Mosque. Then as you walk straight on the right side you will see the Old Souq. It is the oldest market in Bur Dubai. You will see people approaching you to buy their stuffs. They were selling- Souvenirs, Hijabs, Spices, Clothes and many more.

Then if you walk a little far on the right side you will see the Abra Ride Station. Abra Ride is a wooden boat which is used by local people to travel from Bur Dubai to Deira. And now it has become the heritage of Dubai but still most of the people use this to save time from traffic. It costs only 1 AED and return journey is 2 AED. Cash to be paid directly to the driver of the boat.

  • Deira Gold Souq

After getting down at Deira station just follow the sign and you will reach Gold Souq. This is the oldest gold Souq in Dubai. If you want, you can stay there or can start walking again towards the creek. Since it is already evening, you will experience an awesome sunset and will also how the charm of this Golden city changes as the sun goes down.

So take a return ride to Bur Dubai and walk till you reach Al Ghubaiba, to catch a train to your home. So this is how you can spend a whole experiencing the real Dubai without spending a much.
