In school during my 8th Std., I was in the Air Force. I however recollect, on Parade day, we had to get into the Air force uniform for the flag hosting. I used to put on the uniform in the schoolhouse itself. We were made to go for an Air force camping cum training. It was an eight-day camp and I would wait for it to get over. The credit given to us in the report card was the sole reason why was in the Air Force. Then school got over and I left Air force behind.

At that point, I would never give much thought about patriotism or about the people serving our country. I did what I wanted to do, completed my studies, then started working with Hewlett Packard and went on to started traveling, running marathons, writing blogs, and a couple of other things. Then I got so engrossed in traveling that I quit my job and started a Travel Company. Life had taken a different meaning after that. I came across a lot of people from different backgrounds with different mindsets.

One day I was introduced to a new client, a completely different background. She was referred to me by one of my friends. He told me that the duo was getting married and they required a perfect honeymoon trip planned, also that they both worked with The Indian Navy. After that, the client called me and it was as normal a conversation as I would have with any other client. She explained what her requirements were for the trip. We had become acquaintances during the planning of the trip. She appreciated the efforts I had taken to get where I was in life. During that time I came to know that they were both Naval Officers and I was immediately intimidated to speak to her. For the first time in my life, I was nervous to talk to someone. She told me how difficult it was to get all the approvals that they needed to take in order to go for a holiday.

Over a period of time, we became friends and were living in the same city at a point of time. So, eventually, we met and it was totally different. I barraged her with all kinds of doubts pertaining to her employment. I’m certain it must have bothered her, but yet she was answering all of it. We soon became great friends. I had seen her getting pissed off because of her job. She told me many times that she can’t continue with this life for long.  She is also a normal person like any of us who loves to dance, drink, party, travel. She was always there whenever I needed her. Also, used to give me suggestions whenever I asked it.

First time in my life I came across somebody who was from the Fauji background. I started thinking about people who are serving the nation. I was so proud of her that I have a friend who is serving the nation. My life got changed totally after I met her. I started valuing life, relationships, family, and acquaintances. In short, I started loving my life and country.

Richa, you changed my life forever. I owe you a great deal for this. I don’t tell this to anyone but I wanted to tell you -Whenever you need me, I am just a call or message away. I will invariably be there at your back. If you happen to pass by this article, I wanted to tell you that you are doing a real job. Not everyone can do or think to do what you are already doing. Keep inspiring and keep doing good. Best of luck.
